I Like You When You Are Quiet (Pablo Neruda)

Me Gustas Cuando Callas

Pablo Neruda (1904-1973) was a Chilean poet who transformed the world of Spanish literature. The Nobel Prize winner (1971) was known for mixing memories of his love affairs with memories of wilderness of Southern Chile- a poetic sequence that not only describes a physical liaison but also evokes the sense of displacement that Neruda felt in leaving the wilderness for the city.

Live the questions

Timothy Leary (1920-1996) was a psychologist, author and pioneer of psychedelic drugs. While working as a professor at Harvard, he explored the potential benefits of psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms. His later experiments with LSD made him a key figure and hero during the counter-culture movement of the 1960s. One can watch the BBC documentary on him to know more about Leary.

Family Tree of Languages

Language trees for the language lovers! I’ve gathered pretty much all the data for this from ethnologue.com, which is an awesome well of information about language families. And if anyone finds some important language missing let me know! (Naturally most tiny languages didn’t make it on the graph, aww. There’s literally hundreds of them in the Indo-European family alone and I could only fit so many on this page, so most sub-1 mil. speaker languages that don’t have official status somewhere got the cut.)

By Stand Still Stay Silent

Facing the actual books.

I feel dead from inside,
every time I see you.
My brain stops to function
for my numb fingers to move
while my eyes force me to look at the humour
everyone’s opinions on what I should and shouldn’t
with a random “what’s on your mind?” that you ask me

I judge

I forget

I get angry

I forget

I look around
wonder why I even came to see you.
It wasn’t for fun,
or any motivation.
Just hoped to know
how alive they are with you

but I laugh,

I forget.

I like

I forget.

You have sold my functioning basics for free
I crave that attention you let me have
I see them like what I say

I feel confident

and I forget.

You feed me senseless news
and yet expect me share my mood and my favorite song
I laugh at them memes
I feel smarter than ever as my IQ level drops

I laugh,

I forget.

I laugh,

enough now it’s time to hit the logout button.
